Elusive Pimpernel to stand at Islanmore Stud

CRISTINA PATINO is to stand her Craven Stakes winner Elusive Pimpernel at Islanmore Stud in County Limerick next year.

Patino almost single-handedly launched the career of breakthrough sire Big Bad Bob by supporting him with her own stock at Islanmore Stud.

Big Bad Bob now stands at the Irish National Stud, having produced seven stakes performers from three small crops to have raced.

Elusive Pimpernel, owned and bred by Patino's Windflower Overseas Holdings, is related to Big Bad Bob: he is out of the winning Sadler's Wells mare Cara Fantasy, a half-sister to Listed-placed Persian Fantasy, who produced the dam of Big Bad Bob. It is also the family of brilliant racemare SnowFairy.

John Dunlop trained Elusive Pimpernel to win the Acomb Stakes and finish runner-up in the Racing Post Trophy at two.

At three Elusive Pimpernel won the Craven Stakes before a creditable fifth in the 2,000 Guineas.

His stud fee has been set at €1,000, payable up front and refundable if the mare is barren.
