Invincible Spirit colt looks worth his money

EKTIHAAM, who cost Shadwell Estate Company 250,000gns at the 2009 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, is beginning to develop into an exciting prospect, the colt maintaining his unbeaten record at Doncaster today when taking the Frank Whittle Conditions Stakes, on a second career start.

Bred by Bernard Cooke, Ektihaam is the second-most expensive foal by the Irish National Stud stallion to sell at public auction, and the fifth dearest foal bought by Shadwell since 2004.

The farm also bought its Oasis Dream stallion and Prix du Moulin (G1) winner Aqlaam as a foal.

The most expensive foal by Invincible Spirit to go through a sales ring is the so far unraced Alexander Fleming, who was bought by John Ferguson in 2009 for a 260,000gns.

Ektihaam's winning dam, Liscune, is a half-sister to the Group 3 stayer Lycitus and to the dam of the Italian Group 1 winner Sunstrach and out of a winning half-sister to Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe third Awaasif (grand-dam of Lammtarra) and 1,000 Guineas runner-up, Konafa.
