Dynaformer to cover restricted book in 2012

NO retirement plans are yet being made for Kentucky veteran sire Dynaformer, the sire of Sunday's Irish Oaks winner Blue Bunting who will turn 27-years-old next year.

However, the son of Roberto is likely to cover a restricted book at Three Chimneys Farm next season after gettinghalf of his 50-strong book in foal this year.

"We'll give him another shot next year," said Case Clay, president of Three Chimneys Farm where Dynaformer commands a fee of $150,000. "In 2010, he got 69 per cent of his book in foal and this year it dropped to 50 per cent. So what we're going to do next year is limit his book to 40 mares.

"I'm guessing his fertility next year will drop to below 50 per cent but the mares booked to him will be boarded on the farm so they can be bred at an optimum time.

"He's in excellent health - he's as mean as he's ever been and still regularly kicks bars out of his stall."

Dynaformer, who won seven races including the Grade 2 Jersey Derby for D. Wayne Lukas and stands a massive 17 hands high, has defied the odds throughout his stud career, rising off an initial fee of $5,000 at Wafare Farm to his current high of $150,000.

Blue Bunting is one of the stallion's 20 Group/Grade 1 winners, a list which also includes Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro and European stand-outs Rainbow View, White Moonstone and Lucarno.
