Dylan Thomas off the mark in Australia

PRIX de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Dylan Thomas registered a first Australian winner on Saturday when his daughter Edge Of Love scored easily on her debut at the Gold Coast.

Trained on the track by Bruce Hill, Edge of Love led throughout and took the 4½f  sprint by two lengths in a dominant display.

Edge of Love was an A$80,000 purchase for her trainer from the Turangga Farm draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Sale during session five.

She is the first winner out of the ill-fated Royal Academy mare Bound, a daughter of Group 1 winner Wrap Around and half-sister to the dam of champion filly Fashions Afield.

Dylan Thomas's first northern hemisphere crop has yielded 11 winners to date, including stakes performers Athens, Snowflake Dancer and Battle of Saratoga.

He is standing at Coolmore in Australia this spring at a fee of A$19,800.
