Eyecatching wins for daughters of Art and Kid

DUTCH ART,  whose first crop progeny have produced 11 wins in Britain and Ireland, added to his French haul at Maisons-Laffitte yesterday with the maiden victory of 100,000gns Tattersalls yearling purchase Sotka.

Consigned by Hillwood Stud and bought by Con Marnane, Sotka is a half-sister to Nunthorpe Stakes winner Sole Power.

Sotka was second  in May to another Dutch Art progeny Robert Le Diable, who has since claimed a stakes place in the Listed Prix La Fleche. The Cheveley Park sire has had one stakes victory  so far via York Listed winner Miss Work Of Art.

Monday's card also saw a winning debut for the Niarchos owner and bred Solar Midnight, a daughter of Pisco Sour's sire Lemon Drop Kid. Solar Midnight's  full-brother Holocene was placed in the Jacques le Marois.

Her dam Witching Hour is a half-sister to Party Doll, the Listed-winning dam of the Niarchos' top juvenile Titus Livius.  She is by Fairy King, a full-brother to Sadler's Well, thus offering a variation on a cross that has produced many good horses, including Pisco Sour.
