Duke Of Marmalade
set for first runner

CHAMPION Duke Of Marmalade will be represented by his first runner this afternoon when Lady Of Seville takes her chance in the 5f maiden auction fillies race at 2.55 at Ripon.

The Tom Tate-trained filly is one of 121 foalsfrom the first crop of her sire.  Bred by Neville O'Byrne, she is the first foal out of the placed sprinter Promise Of Love, whose half-brother, Captain Rio, excelled in soft conditions, notably when winning the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte on soft.

Tate paid €20,000 for the filly at last year's Goffs Orby Sale.

Duke Of Marmalade show smart form during a truncated two-year-old campaign for Aidan O'Brien, running second in the Veuve Cliquot Champagne Stakes at Goodwood. After several placed efforts in Group 1 company at three, he went on to develop into a top-class older performer with victories by adding five Group 1 races, including the King George and Juddmonte International, to his record at four.

The son of Danehill, who is from the family of champion sire A P Indy, stood his first season at Coolmore for €40,000 and is available this season for €20,000.
