The Duke and Henry to shuttle to Australia

MULTIPLE Group 1 winners Duke Of Marmalade and Henrythenavigator will shuttle to Coolmore's Australian base at Jerry's Plains, New South Wales, for the 2009 southern-hemisphere breeding season.

Duke Of Marmalade, a five-year-old son of Danehill from the family of A.P. Indy, Lemon Drop Kid and Wolfhound, won five consecutive Group 1 races last season before joining Coolmore's Irish stallion roster. His stud fee there is €40,000 this spring.

Henrythenavigator was retired to Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky at the end of last season, after winning a quartet of Group 1 races over a mile, and signing off his racing career by finishing second to Raven's Pass in the Breeders' Cup Classic. The son of Kingmambo's US fee is $65,000.

Michael Kirwan, Coolmore Australia’s general manager, said: "These two stallions are world-class performers who come to Australia with the highest commercial credentials.

"Duke of Marmalade is a five-time Group 1 winner, his immediate family includes no fewer than nine stallions that have sired Group 1 winners and he is by Danehill, the most significant sire in Australian history.

"Henrythenavigator was a brilliant juvenile, who at three developed into one of the most acclaimed milers we have seen in some time.

"Not only did he win four Group 1 races, he broke two course records and only truly outstanding horses can do that. He is also by champion sire Kingmamboand is a perfect outcross to Danehill-line mares.

"Coolmore Australia is delighted to present two stallions of this magnitude to breeders from Australia and New Zealand."

The pair's stud fees in Australia will be announced in the coming weeks.
