Dubai then Frankel on the cards for Danedream

DANEDREAM will be among the superstar names in the first book of mares covered by Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud next year.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes heroine could take in the Dubai Sheema Classic in March before heading to the breeding shed, if she gets the all-clear when all horses in the Cologne training centre are retested for equine infectious anaemia in the first week of January.

The movement of horses from Cologne was banned for three months from early October, after a horse in a clinic was tested positive for the infection, also known as swamp fever. The lockdown ruled Danedream out of defending her Arc crown.

Patrick Barbe, European representative for the filly’s part-owner Teruya Yoshida, said : “All plans depend on the German ministry of agriculture. They will retest all horses at Cologne in the first week of January and, all being well, the transport ban will be lifted.

“If Danedream is in good condition then, she’ll go to Dubai for the Sheema Classic before visiting Frankel. If not, she’ll go straight to Frankel.”

Barbe added that Danedream’s training regime had been unimpeded by the quarantine, but that the Lomitas filly had been given “an unwanted rest”.

A foal resulting from the mating of Frankel with Danedream would have 3x3 inbreeding to Danehill, as both parents are out of daughters of the late Danzig stallion.
