Dragon Dancer switches to Haras du Saz

DRAGON DANCER, just touched off by Sir Percy when a short-head second in the 2006 Derby, has a new home for 2012: the Haras du Saz near Nantes in France.

Dragon Dancer was initially retired to stud at the Haras du Roseraie in the Charente-Maritime region of France and his firstcrop are this year's two-year-olds.

The nine-year-old son of Sadler's Wells joins Early March, Dano-Mast and newcomer Soul City at the Haras du Saz.

Dragon Dancer was co-bred by Kirsten Rausing out of a winning half-sister to Group 1 winners Albanova and Alborada.

A 200,000gns yearling purchase by his trainer Geoff Wragg, he nearly pulled off a massive shock in the Derby, when starting as a 66-1 maiden but beaten into second by Sir Percy in the Epsom Classic.

He won only the one of his 15 starts, the Listed August Stakes at Windsor, though he was by no means disgraced when fourth in the Irish Derby and second in the Chester Vase.

Dragon Dancer's fee for 2012 is €1,000.
