Stud plans in discussion for retired Pathfork

PATHFORK, saddled by Jessica Harrington to win the 2010 National Stakes, has beenretired from racing by his owners Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton due to injury.

The son of Distorted Humor raced only once last year, when a distant seventh behind Frankel in his 2,000 Guineas demolition.

Pathfork was this year transferred to California to be trained by John Sadler and shaped with promise when  sixth behind Mr Commons in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes on his US debut last month.

However, x-rays taken on Tuesday revealed that he had suffered an injury to the back of his left knee after competing in an allowance race at the weekend.

Stud plans for Pathfork are being discussed and he could find himself hot property: as well as being a Group 1 winner, the Niarchos family-bred colt has a brilliant pedigree.

He is out of the Listed-winning Sadler's Wells mare Visions Of Clarity, a three-parts sister to star miler Spinning World from the family of Group 1 winners Chimes Of Freedom and Denon.
