Danehill's half-brother tops penultimate day
at Keeneland

OSCAR LOBO paid $60,000, the day's highest price, for the four-year-old colt Earth Planet, a half-brother by Distant View to Group 1 winner and former champion sire Danehill.

The day's second highest price was given for Major General, a three-year-old colt by Empire Maker out of Graded stakes winner Out of Reach. He cost Hutton and Capin $55,000. Both colts were consigned by Mill Ridge Sales.

The day's aggregate was down 13.1 per cent from 2007 when 169 horses fetched $1,432,300 - this year 189 horses sold for $1,244,600. The average of $6,585 decreased 22.3 per cent from last year's figure of $8,475, while the median was down 50 per cent from $6,000 to $3,000. The sale concludes on Monday.
