Dick Turpin to shuttle
to Mungrup Stud

DICK TURPIN, who is currently standing his first season at The National Stud in Newmarket, will shuttle to Australia for the upcoming southern hemisphere season.

The project, spear-headed by National Stud chairman Ben Sangster and managing director Brian O'Rourke, will see the Group 1-winning son of Arakanstand at Gray and Jan Williamson's Mungrup Stud in Western Australia.

"We are thrilled that Dick Turpin will be standing in the southern hemisphere," said O'Rourke. "We were looking for a stud that would support the horse and have a solid sales record to give his progeny the best possible chance in Australia. I think we have found that in Mungrup Stud. Gray and Jan Williamson have built up a really successful operation and we are delighted to be working with them."

Sangster added: "The Western Australian market is saturated with Danehill line mares so being able to help provide an interesting out crossing opportunity for Australian breeders is very exciting."

Dick Turpin will join a roster of six other stallions at Mungrup Stud including successful young Australian sire Oratorio (by Stravinsky) and 2006 Derby fourth Hala Bek.

Dick Turpin retired to stud as the winner of nine races for Richard Hannon, including the Prix Jean Prat and Premio Vittorio Di Capua. He stands for £7,000.
