RECITAL (b Montjeu - Dibenoise, by Kendor)

Breeder: Renee Geffroy and Caragh Bloodstock in France

WE ARE so accustomed to Montjeu throwing top-class back-end two-year-olds that it was looking an anomaly of the 2010 Flat season that the Coolmore sire had got to November without being represented by a Group 1-winning juvenile.

But Recital arrived at the eleventh hour - in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud, the final Group 1 race of the season - to set the record straight. He won the 1m2f race easily, by five lengths from Bubble Chic (by Chichicastenango) with Prairie Star (Peintre Celebre) in third.

Recital - now unbeaten in two starts and as low as 14-1 for the 2011 Derby - joins such luminaries on Montjeu's record of Group 1-winning juvenile progeny as Authorized, Fame And Glory, Jan Vermeer, Motivator and St Nicholas Abbey.

Recital is Montjeu's 20th individual Group 1 winner.

A €750,000 purchase by Demi O'Byrne, Recital was the second-most expensive horse at last year's Arqana August yearling sale in Deauville.

He is out of the unraced Kendor mare Dibenoise, making him a brother to Prix Ganay hero Corre Caminos and a half-brother to Group 2 Prix du Muguetscorer Racinger.

Dibenoise is out of Boreale, winner of the Prix des Reservoirs and runner-up to Masarika in the 1984 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

Dibenoise also has a Montjeu foal sister to Corre Caminos and Recital on the ground.
