Diableneyev sells for €15,000 at Arqana
DIABLENEYEV will continue his stud career at Hubert Alamartine's Le Fruitier after selling for €15,000 to Xavier Malaviolle at Arqana's February Mixed Sale at Saint-Cloud on Monday.
Consigned from Haras du Thenney to dissolve a partnership, the 16-year-old son of Nureyev was the first lot through the ring.
A Listed winner and second in the Group 2 Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte for Criquette Head-Maarek and the Wertheimer brothers, Diableneyev is from the family of Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp winner Imperial Fling.
After entering stud in 2001, Diableneyev has sired the Group 1 Criterium International winner Helios Quercus, as well as Listed victor Diableside. The stallion had been standing at the Haras du Pley in Normandy.
Malaviolle said: "I have bought him in association with Haras du Grand Chesnaie. He will stand this season at Le Fruitier because the owner wanted to buy him as well and we will try to attract AQPS mares. The stallion has already produced a Group 1 winner so I thought it was a good price."
