Morgan's Bay hits six figures at Doncaster

The first lot at this year's Spring Sale to hit six figures was Morgan's Bay, who finished second in a bumper forHenry Daly on his debut on Friday night at Aintree.

John Edwards outbid his former assistant Ventia Williams to get the five-year-old for £100,000.

Evan Williams paid £72,000 for the DBS Spring Bumper winner Di Kaprio, who is set to race in the same colours as State Of Play.

"He's an attractive horse and has done nothing wrong. He'll go out to grass and then hopefully can win a couple of novice chases in the autumn. He'sfor Mr and Mrs Rucker," said Williams.

But there was no shortage of horses failing to find a new home including Mags Mullins' Punchestown bumper winner Backspin, who was unsold at £220,000, and Galant Nuit, who was a £120,000 not sold.
