Destination strikes with second stakes winner

HE MAY be pitched as a dual purpose stallion at an advertised fee of €2,000, but that hasn't stopped Dubai Destination securing his second stakes winner of the season thanks to Brasileira's success in the Listed Prix Urban Sea at Lion-d'angers on Tuesday.

The four-year-old fillies' success follows that of Top Trip in the Group 2 Prix Hocquart at Longchamp in May. Dubai Destination, who moved to Rathbarry Stud from Dalham Hall in 2010, is also sire of  last season's top French juvenile Family One, winner of the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin.

A €85,000 Arqana yearling, Brasileira is a half-sister to Group 3 Prix Cleopatre winner Sandbar from the family of Ribblesdale Stakes winner Sahara Slew.

The Listed Prix des Lilasfor three-year-old fillies  over a mile at Longchamp went to Regatta, a Wildenstein-bred daughter of the Sunday Silence horse Layman.

Her dam Red Star, by Lure, is a half-sister to Yorkshire Oaks winner Punctilious and Sagaro Stakes winner Risk Seeker. The family traces to fourth dam Fairness, dam of Eclipse winner Salford and ancestress of top US horses Whywhywhy and Crisp as well as Coronation Cup runner-up Highest.
