Paco Boy - Queen Stakes Royal Ascot 2009

Paco Boy: the multiple Group 1 winner will shuttle to Waikato Stud

Paco Boy's New Zealand shuttle fee set

PACO BOY'S fee for his shuttle season at Waikato Stud in New Zealand has been announced at NZ$12,500 (£5,943/€7,054). The son of Desert Style covers his first mares at Highclere Stud off a fee of £8,500.

The winner of eleven races at two to five, Paco Boy won over distances of 6f to 1m, though there was much debate over whether he truly stayed a mile following five straight wins over 7f and two defeats over 1m in his three-year-old season.

The following year, with trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Richard Hughes adamant that 1m held no fears, Paco Boy took the Group 2 Bet365 Mile at Sandown, and two starts later the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He was mostly kept to a mile thereafter, adding a second Bet365 Mile and a Lockinge Stakes win to his impressive cv.
