Desert Party half-
brother to Alpha born

THE latest high-profile foal born under the Darley banner this season is a Desert Party colt out of Munnaya foaled on Tuesday, ten days following the wide margin victory of his half-brother Alpha in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct.

The colt, who is from the first crop of his Grade 2-winning sire, is the 14th foal out of Munnaya, winner of the 1994 Lingfield Oaks Trial for Sir Michael Stoute. The daughter of Nijinsky has produced ten winners led by Godolphin's Bernardini colt Alpha, who is one of the leading fancies for the Kentucky Derby following dominant wins in the Count Fleet and Withers Stakes.

She is also the dam of French Listed winner Mystic Melody (by Seattle Slew) as well as the Grade 2-placed Lavender Sky (by Mt Livermore).

A half-sister to French Listed winners Mall Queen and Sheer Reason, Munnaya is out of the 1986 Princess Margaret Stakes heroine Hiaam, a daughter of Canadian champion Kamar from the family of Fantastic Light.

Desert Party, a son of Street Cry, stands at Darley at Jonabell in Kentucky for $10,000.
