TRIPLE Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Dive was covered by last season's Golden Jubilee Stakes and July Cup winner Starspangledbanner at Coolmore's Australian base in New South Wales on Tuesday.

Coolmore Australia general manager Michael Kirwan said: "We are delighted that Tony and Deslee Santic chose to send Makybe Diva to Starspangledbanner this season.

"She is one of the greats of the Australian turf and he was an international champion sprinter that Tony and Deslee bred themselves at Makybe.

"Makybe Diva was covered on Tuesday morning and she and her foal have settled into the farm nicely."

The daughter of Desert King's first foal was a 2007 colt by Galileo. She then had a 2008 Fusaichi Pegasus filly, a colt by Encosta De Lago in 2009, and was barren in 2010 before producing a Lonhro colt this year.

Kirwan added: "Starspangledbanner is serving an impressive book of mares this year and among the 15 already scanned in foal are the likes of Dizlago, Tariks and the dam of Group 1-placed filly Fast And Sexy."

Starspangledbanner, a son of Choisir, is covering his first southern-hemisphere book of mares at a fee of A$44,000. Earlier this year he began his stud career at Coolmore in County Tipperary at a fee of €15,000.
