Tamayuz first foals on the ground

THE first reported foal by dual Group 1 winner Tamayuz was born on January 8.

The new arrival was a bay filly out of theElnadim mare Almass born at Tamayuz's residence, Derrinstown Stud in County Kildare.

The filly is also the first foal for Almass, who won six races in the colours of Hamdan Al Maktoum, including the Listed Knockaire Stakes and Listed Navigation Stakes on her last two starts.

Hot on that filly's heels came a bay colt out of the Sadler's Wells mare Ezima, runner-up in the 2008 Group 2 Lancashire Oaks.

Another of Tamayuz's first-book mares, Cheveley Park Stakes and Coronation Stakes heroine Indian Ink, is due to foal in the coming days.

A son of Nayef from the family of Urban Sea, Galileo and Sea The Stars, Tamayuz scored a Group 1 double at three in the Prix Jean Prat and Prix Jacques le Marois.

He retired to his owner Sheikh Hamdan's Derrinstown Stud last year at a fee of €15,000, and will command the same fee there this year.
