Derby fourth Doctor Fremantle to sell in NZ

DERBY fourth Doctor Fremantle is an intriguing entry to Tuesday's session of the New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Sale in Karaka.

The son of Sadler's Wells was a high-class 1m4f performer for Sir Michael Stoute and Khalid Abdullah, winning the Group 2 Princess Of Wales's Stakes and a trio of Group 3 events. He was also fourth in the 2007 Derby and Grand Prix de Paris.

Doctor Fremantle was secured as a potential Australian Cup horse following the end of his four-year-old season in a private transaction by Badgers Bloodstock on behalf of trainer Lee Freedman.

However, he has failed to cut much ice at Group level in Australia, never finishing in the frame in seven tries at Group level for Freedman or current trainer Murray and Bjorn Baker.

Haunui Farm will consign Doctor Fremantle - still a full horse - as lot 396 on Tuesday. He is out of the Group 3-placed Rainbow Quest mare Summer Breeze, a sister to Group 1 winners Raintrap and Sunshack.
