Demand strong for Kingmambo colt

NORMAN WILLIAMSON's Oak Tree Farm hit the heights when selling lot 135, a colt by Kingmambo, the only such colt in the sale.

Unsold for $85,000 at Keeneland September, the story was rather different this spring at Tattersalls when he was knocked down to Hugo Lascelles for 200,000gns.  The successful agent reported that the colt is to stay in England.

"I can’t say who he’s for but he’ll be staying in training in England," said Lascelles. "His sire is the best around and he’s getting on now while this was an exceptional-looking colt who breezed very well."

Bidding rocketed up through the six figures, with Oliver St Lawrence and Richard Gibson two of the unsuccessful underbidders
