Malt Master among DBS Newbury additions

MALT MASTER, a ready winner of a Doncaster bumper on his racing debut last Wednesday, is among 12 supplementary entries accepted for the DBS National Hunt Festivals Sale at Newbury on Saturday.

A four-year-old Milan gelding, Malt Master is trained by Nicky Henderson for Distillery Stud. He is catalogued to go through the ring as lot 14A.

Originally purchased for €18,000 as a foal at the 2007 Tattersalls Ireland November sale, he was unsold for £58,000 on his last trip through a sale ring, at Brightwells' Cheltenham National Hunt breeze-up sale in December.

Six late entries have been tacked on to the end of the catalogue, which originally ran to 30 lots, including point-to-point winners over the weekend Castle Conflict (lot 35), Mountainous (32) and Tax Benefit (34).

Also Bygones Sovereign (31), runner-up in an Ayr bumper last Thursday; Rick (33), who has had Blackstairmountain and Oscar Time behind when winning hurdles this season; and Tatispout (36), third to Cucumber Run in a novice hurdle in January.

The DBS National Hunt Festival Sale is a new auction designed to enable owners to add to their artillery for the big end-of-season jumps prizes.
