DBS: McCain lands Perth winner for £80,000

DUAL Perth hurdle winner Kruzhlinin led the way at today's Doncaster Spring Sale pipe-opener when selling for £80,000 when offered as part of the Million In Mind dispersal.

Trainer Donald McCain signed for the five-year-old, who was offered from Nigel Twiston-Davies's stable, and his purchase will go novice chasing next season.

"This horse beat me a couple of times this spring and I was quite taken by him. He'll probably be going chasing now," said McCain. "He's been bought for Paul Rooney, who came to me at the start of last season and has had a bit of success with the likes of Absinthe, Keeneland and Beeves."

Earlier, Cambridgeshire handler Sarah Humphrey gained another potential chaser after agent Anthony Bromley saw off Paul Webber at £65,000 for the Charlie Swan-trained Moyaliff.

The five-year-old landed a point-to-point in October and easily won a maiden hurdle at Killarney earlier this month.

"The good thing for us was that his win came in May, not April, which means he can run as a novice hurdler for another 12 months. It made quite a difference to us when we were bidding although he has been bought principally as a long-term chasing prospect," said Bromley.
