Dbs Breeze 99

Lot 99, a Royal Applause out of Princess Minnie from Brown Island Stables, breezes at Doncaster racecourse yesterday

DBS hosts Breeze-up Sale today at 10.30am

DBS has compiled a catalogue of 192 two-year-olds for its breeze-up, which starts today at 10.30am. The lots breezed on the final three furlongs of Doncaster's hurdles track yesterday and videos of the works are available on

The auction was the first European breeze-up to sell a Classic winner when in 2005 a Danehill Dancer filly was knocked down to Pam Sly for 30,000gns. The following year the horse, named Speciosa, won the 1,000 Guineas. The sale has cemented its reputation as an inexpensive source of stars, with five-time Group 1 winner Dream
Ahead, now a stallion at Ballylinch Stud, bought here by Blandford Bloodstock for just £36,000 in 2010. Only an hour before Dream Ahead landed last year's July Cup, last year's sale-topper, the £140,000 purchase Red Duke, won the Superlative Stakes.

Balthazaar'sGift, Paco Boy and Total Gallery are also alumni.

Today's possible box-office lots on paper include:
10) A colt by popular breeze-up sire Medaglia D'Oro out of US Listed winner Emily Ring, the dam of two winners from four runners

13) Grade 1 winner Flat Fleet Feet is the dam of this colt by Giant's Causeway, making him a half-brother to Listed winner Two Mile Hill

90) This Henrythenavigator filly is the first foal out of Compton Place's Grade 2-winning daughter Passified

138) By Exceed And Excel, sire of last year's Group 1 winners Excelebration and Margot Did, this colt is out of Flying Childers Stakes winner Wunders Dream
