Day seven of Keeneland brings cross-board gains

THE upward trajectory of the Keeneland September Sale continued to the seventh day with  double digit gains in gross, average and median — the latter  increasing by 48 per cent.

Monday's session saw  309 yearlings sold for  $13,893,500, up 13.57 percent from 2011 when 306 horses sold for $12,233,200.  The average price of $44,963 represented a 12.47 per cent increase over last year’s $39,978. The median price rose to $37,000 from $25,000.

A filly by Unbridled’s Song topped the session, making $280,000. She is the first foal out of the Grade 2 San Gorgonio Handicap winner Tizfiz, by Tiznow, and comes from the family of championtwo-year-old colt, Favorite Trick.
