Daughter of Central Park wins Balanchine

MY CENTRAL, a five-year-old daughter of Central Park and a half-sister to last year's Prix Robert Papin winner Lui Rei, ran out the shock winner of the Balanchine (Gr3), the highlight of Friday's card at the Dubai Carnival.

By In The Wings, and a brother to Lancashire Oaks winner Mellow Park, Central Park won the Derby Italiano for Godolphin.

He formerly stood in Italy, where My Central was bred, but was transferred to Richard Kent's Mickley Stud in Shropshire in 2005, where he serves as a dual purpose sire for £1,500.

Trained by South African Herman Brown, My Central got the better of Front House close home after being produced from well back.

The winner was comprehensively overturning the form from the Group 3 Cape Verdi two weeks previously, where Deem had beaten Front House, with My Central back in seventh.

Saudi Arabia's Deem attempted to repeat that all-the-way victory but had to give best halfway down the straight after Front House tackled her, only for My Central to claim the race from the rear.

Well-fancied Japanese filly Black Emblem was going well when seemingly breaking down after turning for home.
