Date change for Arqana August Yearling Sale

THE Arqana August Sale is to revert back to its traditional slot of a weekend alongside racing at Deauville this year as the auction house seeks to "capture a maximum number owners" to the four-day sale.

The move means that the sale will be staged from Saturday 18 to Tuesday 21 August, thereby coinciding with the Prix Morny card at Deauville on Sunday August 19. Last year, it was shifted away from Prix Jacques le Marois weekend to run over four days from Monday August 22 to Thursday August 25.

"We decided to shift the August sale to back over the Prix Morny weekend for two reasons," said Alexandra Saint-Martin head of marketing and communication at Arqana. "Firstly, to take advantage of the dynamic atmosphere generated by racing and capture a maximum number owners.

"Secondly, it allows professionals to head to the York meeting at the end of the sale in time to make it for the beginning of the Ebor Festival."

The Ebor Festival runs from August 22 to 25.

However, Arqana will retain the sale format that was introduced in 2011. Part 1 will comprise two select evening sessions held over the weekend while Part 2 follows with afternoon sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
