Gestüt Etzean announces 2009 stallion fees

GERMAN stud Gestüt Etzean has announced its stallion fees for 2009.

Sholokhov, who won the Gran Criterium and finished runner-up in the Irish Derby and Eclipse for Aidan O'Brien during his racing career, has had his fee increased to €7,000 from €6,000 this year.

Bred along very similar lines to Soldier Of Fortune, Sholokhov was Germany's leading first-season sire in 2007. His winners this year include Group 3 winner Peace Royale and Listed scorers Adolfina, Timos, Atalia and Every Day.

Veteran sire Dashing Blade, who is reported by Etzean as "enjoying the best of health", has had his fee reduced from €8,000 this year to €7,000.

The best runner by the 21-year-old son of Elegant Air this year is the Group 2-winning colt Forthe Millionkiss.

Etzean's other stallion, Dashing Blade's son Lord Of England, had also had his fee adjusted downwards from €3,000 this year to €2,500 in 2009.

The first crop of the German Group 1 winner are foalsthis year.
