German freshman Lord Of England off the mark

GERMAN first-season sire Lord Of England got a first winner on the scoreboard when his son Acadius scored on his debut in a 7f maiden at Düsseldorf on Sunday.

Lord Of England stands alongside his sire, Dashing Blade, at Gestüt Etzean near Frankfurt in Germany. He hails from the outstanding German 'L' female line that has also thrown up Group 1 winners Lady Marian, Lavirco, Lirung and Lomitas.

Trained by Mario Hofer for Stall Lucky Owner, the seven-year-old was a 1m Listed winner before finishing a close third of four in the Group 1 Gran Criterium at San Siro at two.

At three he won the Group 3 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft over 1m1f and signed off his career with a score in the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis over 1m2f.

Acadius, who won by four and a half lengths, is also owned by Stall Lucky Owner. He is out of the Tiger Hill mare Amouage, whose third dam was a half-sister to Allegretta, herself dam of Urban Sea, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner who gained immortality by producing Galileo and Sea The Stars.

Lord Of England's fee at Etzean this year was €2,500.
