A GAME victory for Jeff Smith's homebred Barshiba to land her second consecutive Lancashire Oaks. In the process, she also maintained the hot run of her sire, Barathea, who only yesterday sired the Gala Stakes winner Stotsfold.

Barshiba represents another version of the successful Barathea - Shirley Heights cross (also responsible for Magical Romance, Stotsfold and Barathea Guest) as the daughter of a mare by Smith's 1989 Dewhurst Stakes winner Dashing Blade, a grandson of Shirley Heights.

She is one of two stakes winners out of the Listed-placed Dashiba following Doctor Dash (by Dr Fong), who won the Listed Stonehenge Stakes for Barshiba's connections in 2005. Further back, this is the family of Irish St Leger winner Oscar Schindler.

Barshiba was barren to Barathea in 2009 and has a colt foal by Teofilo.
