Darley's Elusive Quality to shuttle to Brazil

ELUSIVE QUALITY, the Darley-owned sire of last year's Breeders' Cup Classic victor Raven's Pass and the 2004 Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, will shuttle to Stud TNT in Brazil this year.

The 16-year-old son of Gone West shuttled to Darley's Australian base from 2003 to 2008, from where he sired Group 1 winner Camarilla. Sheikh Mohammed's operation will send Street Cry, their most successful Mr Prospector-line sire, to Australia this year, accompanied by two of his unproven sons, Street Sense and Street Boss.

Elusive Quality is the sire of two erstwhile leading prospects for this year's Kentucky Derby and 2,000 Guineas. His son Quality Road missed the Churchill Downs race due to quarter cracks in a hoof, while Evasive, a Group 3 winner last year, was sixth to Sea The Stars in the Guineas on Saturday.

The stallioncovered 118 mares in Australia last year, when his fee was reduced by 40 per cent to A$82,500. His US fee was also reduced in 2008, from $100,000 to $75,000, when he was mated to 143 mares.

Stud TNT, owned by Goncalo Torrealba, bred and raced 2004 UAE Derby winner Lundy's Liability. Among the other well-known US stallions to have shuttled to the stud are Taylor Made's Northern Afleet and Coolmore's Woodman.
