Dutch Art shortened to be top first-season sire

CHEVELEY Park Stud stallion Dutch Art has been clipped into evens favouritism by Stan James to be the leading first-season sire of 2011 by number of individual winners in Britain and Ireland.

The move follows an exceptional week for the son of Medicean in which he sired seven consecutive winners to bringhis British and Irish tally to 17.

Stan James representative Joseph Burke said: "52 per cent winners to runners is an exceptionally good strike rate for first season stallion at this stage of the season and it looks like Dutch Art could go on from here and have the title wrapped up in a few weeks.

"Using a racing analogy, he was stalking the long time leader Dark Angel and has now just cruised past him and it looks like it's just a matter of how far. One can see challengers emerging from the pack and making a late charge such as Teofilo etc. but it looks like Dutch Art has stolen a march on them at this stage."
