Modigliani leaves Ireland for Castleton Lyons

GROUP 3 winner Modigliani will be relocated from Greentree Stud in County Tiperrary to Castleton Lyons in Kentucky for the 2010 breeding season.

Modigliani, a three-parts brother to Rodrigo De Triano, was trained by Aidan O'Brien to run third in the Coventry Stakes at two and win the Tetrarch Stakes in the following season.

Initially retired to Hyde ParkStud, the son of Danzig has spent the past three seasons at Greentree Stud. His oldest crop are four and his best representatives include champion Italian juvenile filly Magritte and Tattersalls Ireland sales race scorer Sudden Impact.

Castleton Lyons president Shane Ryan said: "We believe that Modigliani has proven that he has the potential to become another great sire by Danzig, one of the most important sons of the great Northern Dancer.

"We have confidence in his ability as a sire and have strongly supported Modigliani over the last couple of breeding seasons. Modigliani now has a wonderful opportunity in Kentucky to be bred to more quality mares from our well established Castleton Lyons broodmare band.

"This stallion has demonstrated from his small earlier books in Ireland that he is capable of siring speedy two-year-olds which would clearly suit the American breeding and racing programmes."

Modigliani's first fee at Castleton Lyons has been set at $5,000.
