Dansili filly presses Classic claims in France

BANSTEAD Manor Stud stallion Dansili has a credible new candidate for this year's Classics in the shape of Testosterone, the easy winner of the Prix Madeleine, a conditions race for three-year-old fillies over 1m3f at Longchamp on Tuesday.

Testosterone, trained by Pascal Bary for owner Louis Duquesne, beat Goldtara, a daughter of Gold Away, by five lengths, with the Galileo filly Gagarina a short neck back in third.

Testosterone, who on her previous start earlier this month had finished third in a debutantes race at Longchamp, holds an entry for the Prix de Diane at Chantilly on June 12.

Dansili has a strong record with his runners in France. He is the sire of Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Pasage Of Time, Poule d'Essai des Pouliches first-past-the-post Price Tag, Grand Prix de Paris and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Rail Link and another Grand Prix de Paris winner in Zambezi Sun.

Also the sire of last year's world champion racehorse Harbinger and Phoenix Stakes scorer Zoffany, Dansili stands at a fee of £65,000 in 2011.

His first crop bred at a career-high fee of £75,000 are this year's juveniles and one of those already has a win on the board - Requinto, a colt out of Phoenix Stakes winner Damson, landed a Cork maiden by three and a half lengths on Saturday.

Testosterone is the third foal produced by the Sadler's Wells mare Epopee,a winner over 1m4f-2m and Listed-placed over 2m in France.

Epopee was a FFr3.7 million Deauville yearling but was sold in December 2008 - the winter after Testosterone was foaled - to agent Crispin de Moubray for €30,000.

She is a sister to Ecomium, a winner over 1m2f at three who ran second in the Listed Diamond Stakes and James Seymour Stakes over that distance for Jeremy Noseda.

Her dam, Encens, was a half-sister to Scenic, who famously gave sire Sadler's Wells a huge boost in his first season with progeny, by dead-heating with paternal half-brother Prince Of Dance in the Dewhurst Stakes.

This is the exceptional Juddmonte family of Rainbow Quest and star producer Slightly Dangerous, dam of Commander In Chief and Warning.

Testosterone was bought by Anthony Stroud for €13,000 at the Arqana October yearling sale and was resold by Tally-Ho Stud at the Arqana breeze-up to the Broadhurst Agency for €15,000.
