Speciosa booked in for Sea The Stars visit

TRAINER Pam Sly has described it "an honour" to have her star mare Speciosa accepted as one of Sea The Stars's first book of mares next spring.

Speciosa cost Sly only 30,000gns at the Donacaster breeze-up sale, but propelled the trainer, who also owns the mare with her son Michael and London GP Tom Davies, into the big time when landing the Rockfel Stakes at two and the 1,000 Guineas the following season.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer's first product is a colt foal by Oasis Dream, who was registered as a vendor buyback at 140,000gns at Tattersalls last month, and she is back infoal to the red-hot Juddmonte sire.

Other mares confirmed to be visiting Sea The Stars in his first season at Gilltown Stud in Ireland next year include the Jim Bolger-owned and trained pair Lush Lashes – a 1.8m guineas vendor buyback at Tattersalls earlier this week – and Cuis Ghaire, as well as the well-related mares Speed Song and Bitooh, who were bought at Tattersalls this week by John Clarke on behalf of Sea The Stars's owners the Tsui family.

Sly also revealed that she bought in Speciosa's first foal because the colt had a small piece of debris in a stifle, and that she now expects to train and race the colt.
