Big day down under
for shuttler Choisir

COOLMORE shuttler Choisir was represented by his 27th stakes winner on Saturday when two-year-old Rockshaft took the Group 3 SAJC Marsh Breeders Stakes at Morphettville in Australia.

Meanwhile in New Zealand, another representative, three-year-old gelding Historian, was a brave second to Jimmy Choux (by Thorn Park) in the Group 1 New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie.

Rockshaft races as a homebred for Peter Howell, who also bred his dam, the useful two-year-old winner Bella Jewel. The daughter of Rory's Jester is a half-sister to Listed winner Marveen and from the immediate family of Group 1 winner Danglissa.

Rockshaft is the fourth stakes runner bred on the Choisir - Rory's Jester cross following dual Listed-winning sprinter Battlefield and the stakes-placed Jesse's Girl and Silent But Deadly.

He brings Choisir's Australian-bred stakes tally to 16 alongside others such as the Group 1 winners Starspangledbanner and Sacred Choice. Challenge Stakeswinner Stimulation, who is standing his first season at Llety Farm in Wales, is the best of Choisir's 11 stakes winners bred in the northern hemisphere.

The Group 1-winning son of Danehill Dancer stands at Coolmore for €12,500.
