Nayef colt wins Newmarket maiden

DANDY, bred in Germany by Gestut Rottgen and bought by Andrew Balding from Hawthorn Villa Stud at the Goffs Orby Sale last September for €65,000, beat a field of well-bred maidens to win the first at Newmarket today, the EBF "Zamindar" Maiden.

The colt is by Nayef and out of Diacada, winner of the Henkel Rennen (G2), the German 1,000 Guineas, and a grandson of Diasprina, a champion juvenile in Germany of 1982.

He is half-brother to the Listed winner Diatribe (Tertullian).

Diacada's yearling by Kallisto was withdrawn fromthis September's Baden-Baden Sale.
