Animal Kingdom wins the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs

Animal Kingdom dam covered by Heart's Cry

DALICIA, the dam of Saturday's clear-cut Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, has been covered this season by Heart's Cry at Shadai Farm in Japan.

Heart's Cry, a son of dominant Japanese influence Sunday Silence, won the Arima Kinen and Dubai Sheema Classic. His first crop are three-year-olds and theyinclude last month's Tokyo Grade 2 winner Win Variation.

Shadai bought German Group 3 winner Dalicia in foal to Mr Greeley for 230,000gns at the 2009 Tattersalls December breeding-stock sale.

Dalicia's yearling colt by Mr Greeley will race for the Shadai Thoroughbred Club. She also has a colt foal by Neo Universe, sire of this year's Dubai World Cup winner Victoire Pisa, on the ground.

Dalicia, a ten-year-old daughter of Acatenango, won the Group 3 Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe at Baden Baden. She is a sister to the dam of Daveron, winnerof the Grade 3 Beaugay Stakes at Belmont on Saturday for Animal Kingdom's owners Team Valor, out of a winning daughter of German champion juvenile filly Diasprina.

Another high-profile addition to the Shadai Farm broodmare band, Cheveley Park and Nearctic Stakes winner Serious Attitude, has been scanned in foal to Japan Cup winner Zenno Rob Roy, sire of Japanese Oaks winner Saint Emilion.

Serious Attitude was bought by Shadai at last year's Fasig-Tipton November sale for $1,850,000.
