Dalakhani half-brother bids for Group 2 glory

DALGHAR, a two-year-old half-brother to outstanding multiple Group 1 winners Dalakhani and Daylami, will bid to uphold familyhonour in the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte on Tuesday.

Like all his siblings and his dam, the 19-year-old Miswaki mare Daltawa, Dalghar was bred by the Aga Khan. He is trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre, who saddled Dalakhani to win four Group 1 races including the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The Anabaa colt faces stiff opposition in the Group 2 race. Mario Hofer's Big Shuffle colt Smooth Operator and Criquette Head-Maarek's Anabaa filly Treasure, who finished first and fourth in the Group 3 Prix Eclipse, take each other on again.

All Speedy, a Listed winner by Pyramus, and Italian challenger Lui Rei, a son of Reinaldo who won the Prix Robert Papin earlier in the year, complete the line up.
