Zarkava: the daughter of Zamindar was unbeaten in seven starts

Arc winner Zarkava's first foal named

THE first foal of the Aga Khan's outstanding racemare Zarkava, a two-year-old filly by Dalakhani, has been named Zerkaza.

The filly's name has been registered with French racing authority France Galop, although she does not have a trainer registered nor any race entries yet.

It would be expected that Zerkaza would enter training with Alain de Royer-Dupre, who trained both Dalakhani and Zarkava to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for owner-breeder the Aga Khan.

The Aga Khan follows a convention by which homebred foals are given a name with the same initial as their dams.

Zarkava, a daughter of Zamindar and Zarkasha, was unbeaten in seven starts including the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Prix de Diane and culminating with a two-length score in the Arc.

She also has a yearling colt by Sea The Stars, a colt foal by Galileo and has been scanned in foal to Dubawi this year.
