FRIDAY'S Group 2 Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup provided another feather in the cap for Dolores, the star broodmare at Philippa Cooper's Normandie Stud in Sussex.

Dolores's son Duncan mademost of the running and stayed on well to repel the late challenge of Blue Bajan (by Montjeu) by half a length, with Manighar (Linamix) back in third.

Duncan, who also won last year's Group 2 Prix Foy, is one of three black-type performers from just four foals to race produced by Dolores.

Dolores's other stakes performers are Samuel, by Sakhee, winner of the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, and Deirdre, by Dubawi, third to Snow Fairy in the Listed Height of Fashion Stakes.

She also has a five-year-old son of Haafhd called Howard but was blighted by bad luck for several seasons - her 2008 and 2009 foals by Pivotal and Halling died and she was barren last year - until she produced a filly by Sea The Stars this year.

A daughter of Danehill, Dolores won the Listed Conqueror Stakes and was fourth in the 1,000 Guineas and third in the Coronation Stakes.

Her grand-dam is a half-sister to the dam of Dante Stakes winner and Derby favourite Carlton House.

Duncan is by Gilltown Stud resident Dalakhani, winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and sire of Group 1 winners Chinese White, Conduit and Moonstone.
