Arc heroine Zarkava set for a date with Dubawi

ZARKAVA, unbeaten in seven career starts and the winner of five Group 1 races for the Aga Khan, will be visiting Darley’s flagbearer Dubawi in the coming weeks, following in the footsteps of other Group 1 heroines Ouija Board and Dar Re Mi.

Gilltown Stud farm manager Pat Downes said: “Zarkava will be visiting Dubawi this year. He is a very good stallion – that’s all there is to say.”

Zarkava has now had three foals; her first by Dalakhani, who is still to be named, could make her racecourse debut this year. Last year she gave birth to a colt foal by world champion Sea The Stars and she recently foaled a Galielo colt.

Downes reports mare and foal to be in rude health. "She gave birth on February 20 – mother and son are reportedly doing well,” said Downes.

"I haven't seen them as they are in France but he I am told he
is a nice foal. The Sea The Stars yearling – also in France – is doing well."

Zarkava's Group 1 haul included the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, Prix de Diane and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
