DYNAFORMER'S three-year-old colt Brilliant Speed became a new Grade 1 winner for his sire on Saturday night when landing Keeneland's Toyota Blue Grass Stakes by a nose from the Harlan's Holiday colt Twinspired.

Owned and bred by Live Oak Stud, this was an much improved performance by the Tom Albertrani-trained runner, who won one of his five starts as a juvenile and was beaten into second in two minor stakes races this season.

His dam, Speed Succeeds, is by Gone West and was unraced. She cost a hefty $1,450,000 as a yearling at the Keeneland September yearling sale of 2002 and was bred by Hill 'n' Dale Farm.

Speed Succeeds is out of Daijin, who was third in the Grade 1 Test Stakes and is a half-sister to Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold and half-sister to Breeders' Cup Turf runner-up With Approval, who was crowned champion Canadian
three-year-old.

Dynaformer stands for $150,000 at Three Chimneys Farm, Kentucky. His best progeny to race in Britain and Ireland include St Leger winner Lucarno, now a jumps sire at Bill Bromley's Wood Farm Stud, Derby third Beat All, also a jumps stallion at Mickley Stud, and Fillies' Mile winners Rainbow View and White Moonstone.
