Juvenile Group double for Galileo at the Curragh

Curragh: Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (Group 2), 1m, 2yo c

BATTLE OF MARENGO (c Galileo - Anna Karenina by Green Desert)

Bred by Anna Karenina Syndicate in Ireland

BATTLE Of Marengo continued a memorable summer for Galileo on Sunday when becoming his sire's second consecutive winner of the Beresford Stakes after last year's hero David Livingston.

Galileo is amassing an all mighty squad of talent to go to war with next year: Battle Of Marengo is one of three horses by the sire in the top five of the betting for next year's Derby alongside Mars and Telsescope. The third favourite for the Derby, Dawn Approach, is by Galileo's top-class son and exciting sire New Approach.

Offspring by the Coolmore juggernaut will be highly sort after at the yearling sales this month and there will be a number of opportunities to acquire his stock, with eight offerings at Goffs and 42 lots catalogued in Book 1 at Tattersalls, including a sister to this year's Oaks winner Was.

Battle Of Marengo is bred on the same Green Desert cross as Was and is the second foal out of Anna Karenina, a half-sister to this year's Group 3 winner Windsor Palace whose first foal Precious Stone (Galileo) won at Dundalk last week for David Wachman.

C. L. Weld Park Stakes (Group 3), 7f, 2yo f

MAGICAL DREAM (2 f Galileo - Red Evie by Intikhab)

Bred by Roncon, Wyatt and Chelston in Ireland

MAGICAL Dream became the 36th stakes winner of the year by the all-conquering Galileo when running out the comfortable winner of this event.

She is the second foal out of top miler Red Evie, who was trained by Michael Bell to win nine races including the 2007 Lockinge Stakes, in which she beat Ramonti, and 2006 Matron Stakes. She failed to sell at 1 million guineas at Tattersalls in December 2007 but later changed hands in a private transaction to Coolmore.

Galileo works well with a variety of lines but he is particularly effective with Roberto blood: Magical Dream is bred on the same Intikhab cross as the top South African filly Igugu while another Group 1 winner in South Africa, Mahbooba, is out of a mare by Intikhab's sire Red Ransom.

Red Evie has a yearling brother to Magical Dream.
