US freshman Noble Causeway off the mark

LORD CHELSIE became the first winner for US freshman sire Noble Causeway with a three and three-quarter length victory in a 4½f maiden special weight at Monmouth Park on Friday.

The two-year-old gelding is owned and bred by My Meadowview Farm, whose colours Noble Causeway carried during his racing career. He was making his second start for trainer Wesley Ward.

Lord Chelsier is out of the stakes-winning Housebuster mare Chelsie's House, making him a half-brother to stakes-winner Coax Liberty.

Noble Causeway, a son of Giant's Causeway out of the winning Seeking The Gold mare Mimi's Golden Girl, won three of his 18 starts and finished second six times, including in the Grade 1 Florida Derby.

He stands at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky at a fee of $5,000.

He has already made an impact in Europe as the sire of the €130,000 top lot, a colt out of the Elusive Quality mare Lusi Pond, at the Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale last month.
