Boogie Street and Rock City move to Sussex stud

FOUR stallions based until this year at Acrum Lodge Stud in County Durham have been transferred to stand at Philip Sharp's Swallows Oast Stud in Whatlington, East Sussex.

Trainer Alan Kirtley took over the lease at Acrum Lodge Stud, where his small string is based, earlier this year.

The farm will continue to offer boarding services but has ceased to operate as a stallion operation, leading to Boogie Street, Cayman Kai, Prince Daniel and Rock City being moved south to stand alongside Quest For Fame's brother Air Quest and Desert Heat, a winning son of Green Desert, at SwallowsOast Stud.

Sharp, who is a permit holder, said: "We are a fairly new operation and taking on this quartet of high-class horses is a huge boost for us."

Boogie Street, a multiple Listed-winning son of Compton Place, is represented by his first two-year-olds in 2010, with several reported to be in training with Richard Hannon. He will stand at £1,000 next season.

Rock City, a son of Ballad Rock who was blisteringly fast at two, when he won the Coventry Stakes, July Stakes and Gimcrack Stakes, is the sire of smart Flat performers Hannibal Lad and Absent Friends as well as Grade 1-winning chaser Rockforce. His 2010 fee has been set at £600.

Also priced at £600 is Cayman Kai, a Flying Childers Stakes winner by Imperial Frontier whose best performer is The Cayterers.

Prince Daniel, who is rising 27 years old, is a stakes-winning son of Sharpen Up whose best progeny includes useful handicappers Prince Of My Heart and Sandbaggedagain. His fee is on application.

Kirtley also reported that Group 2 winner Courteous, who had stood at Acrum Lodge Stud since 2005, had been sold earlier in the year to stand in Kazakhstan.
