Country Reel sold to stand in Turkey
THE Turkish breeding ranks have been given a boost by the arrival of Country Reel, who has been bought to stand at Karacabey Pension Stud.
The 13-year-old son of Danzig, who has spent the last seven years at Haras Du Logis in Normandy, was bought by Turkish breeder Hakan Vehbi Keles for the reported sum of €70,000.
Country Reel will cover 80 mares in his first season and will stand at a fee of 3,000 Turkish Lira.
Country Reel, who is out of a half-sister to Anabaa (also by Danzig), was trained by David Loder to win two races including the Gimcrack Stakes.
He has sired seven stakes winners, headed by French Group 3 winner Absolutly Yes and last season's Listed-winning juvenile Disko Dasko, who was subsequently bought for 75,000gns by Gordian Troeller at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.
