Cape Cross Group 3 winner stays strongly

Bahrain Trophy (Group 3), Newmarket, 1m5f

CORSICA (Cape Cross - Cedar Sea by Persian Bold)

Breeder: Epona Bloodstock Ltd and P A Byrne

CORSICA battled on gamely at Newmarket under Frankie Dettori to bag a first Group win, having finished fourth in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot on his first try at this level.

The three-year-old son of Cape Cross is another reminder of his sire's ability to produce middle-distance horses, despite the fact that he was a miler with strong speed influences on both sides of his pedigree.

His dam, Cedar Sea, ran only three times in France, and was second in a Listed race at Deauville on her only juvenile outing. She is a half-sister to Coventry Stakes winner CD Europe.
