Coolmore welcomes brother to Zenyatta

BRILLIANT US racemare Zenyatta has a new brother on the ground.

Coolmore, which owns her dam Vertigineux, posted a message on Facebook on Friday that said: "Vertigineux foaled a brother to Zenyatta at Ashford Stud on April 9."

Dermot Ryan, who manages Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky, commented: "He's a good quality bay colt, and both mare and foal are doing well."

Zenyatta and the new arrival are by Darley America stallion Street Cry.

Zenyatta was owned by Jerry and Ann Moss to win 13 Grade 1 races, including when becoming the only female to win the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Vertigineux is a winning daughter of Kris S who has also produced triple Grade 1 winner Balance.

Meanwhile the first foal out of Zenyatta, a colt by Bernardini, was named Cozmic One this week.
